She is also director of the university's Center for Religious and Legal History and associate director of its Center for Medieval and Renaissance Studies. Her research and teaching focus on medieval theology, canon law, and pastoral care and is a strong advocate for the recovery in Reformed circles of engagement with the broader Christian tradition, including that of the medieval period. After completing her dissertation in Munich in 2010 on a Fulbright grant, her first book, Master of Penance: Gratian and the Development of Penitential Thought and Law in the Twelfth Century (Washington DC: CUA Press, 2014), was a winner of a 2015 Manfred Lautenschlaeger Award for Theological Promise from the University of Heidelberg. She has also edited and translated the subject of her monograph, Gratian’s Tractatus de penitentia, also from CUA Press. She has co-edited several volumes with international collaborators and published multiple journal articles and book chapters.
