2021 Resourcing the Rebuild
Dear Friends,
Our colleagues in the business world call it "proof of concept." All we know is that the Lord is blessing the work of Greystone Theological Institute in ways far beyond our expectations. It would seem that the combination of our distinctive commitments to confessional Reformed catholicity, the "long" and personal view of theological formation, and rigorous scholarship with sustained conversations that advance Reformed theology and ministry have, well, struck a nerve. As our surrounding culture reels from seismic shifts and fundamental changes, we are discovering just how timely this work is. To learn what we mean by this, please take a few minutes to listen as our President, Dr. Mark A. Garcia, reflects solemnly and poignantly yet hopefully in the video above on Greystone's determination to "resource the rebuild" in this special and challenging time for the Church and the world.
As one example of this, we are delighted to report that in a truly wonderful providence we have been blessed with the opportunity to own the property in Coraopolis (Pittsburgh), PA that we have been renting since our founding . . . and for no purchase price! This multi-building property affords Greystone key resources for our work of "resourcing the rebuild": a library, lecture hall, full kitchen and dining hall, full sanctuary, office and conversation spaces, and--perhaps most thrilling of all given our commitment to mentorship and apprenticeship--residential spaces for housing our students and lecturers. We stand in wonder at the kindness and generosity of our God! However, the building does require some improvements if we are going to see it deployed as it should be: technology and data infrastructure updates, the renovation of the guest quarters and kitchen, and the repair of various surfaces are all urgently needed, for example. But we rejoice in the Lord's provision of this site and are confident he will provide what is needed to use it well and effectively.
This is but one example of several astounding openings that are before us. Other examples include special opportunities to materially and extensively support the formation of faithful Reformed ministers and theologians in South Africa, to facilitate the continuing edification of ministers and other thoughtful Christians across various institutions and contexts, and to advance the work of our Lydia Center for Women and Families in service of an increasingly critical area of need. We look forward to updating you on each of these endeavors, and much more, in the days to come. The Lord is doing marvelous things.
To celebrate what our God is doing through our humble endeavors, and to rally support for the continuation and advancement of our work, we invite you to consider partnering with us now with your needed and greatly appreciated one-time or regular support gift. We have never needed your investment more than we do now, and we have never been as encouraged about the long-term fruits of Greystone's service than we are now.
