The Hope That Is Within You

Paul's conversion was rooted in the fabric of the historical revelation of God as embodied in the gospel of Jesus Christ, and his apologetic was enveloped in a biblical theological framework that found its center in the Christ of redemptive revelation. This Christ of redemptive revelation was, therefore, both the heart of Paul's apologetic and the reason for it. That is, by virtue of Paul's union with Christ, he not only had hope within him but a reasonable defense for that hope given by the testimony of the Spirit in the divine self-disclosure of God in redemptive revelation. We too—as those in union with Christ—have this hope.

This lecture sample is taken from Greystone's module, Introduction to Apologetics in Theological Context. This module, available to all Greystone Members, is an extensive theological introduction to Reformed apologetics in the tradition of Cornelius Van Til, with explorations of historical and contemporary questions in the commendation and defense of the Christian Faith.
