  • DEPARTMENT: Stewardship

JOB TITLE: Fundraiser and Donor/Church Relations Officer

    ABOUT GREYSTONE THEOLOGICAL INSTITUTE

Greystone Theological Institute (GTI) is an institution committed to providing rigorous theological training and spiritual formation in the tradition of confessional Reformed catholicity for ministers and other Christians, equipping them for effective service in the Church and the world.

Why work with Greystone? Our goal is for GTI employees to have a sense of deep alignment between their work and who they are as an individual in the image and purposes of God. We want all employees to enjoy a personal connection to their work and a true sense of dignity, value, and belonging in which we are more than our work but not less than our work.

    POSITION SUMMARY

We are seeking a part-time Fundraiser and Donor/Church Relations Officer to join our Stewardship team. This individual will play a key role in engaging with our donors and church communities primarily within NAPARC (North American Presbyterian and Reformed Council) and similar USA and international church contexts, leading the cultivation and support of a donor base, and leading related efforts in stewardship and the execution of the Institute’s strategic plan. The ideal candidate will be a bridge-builder, fostering strong, respectful, and fruitful relationships across Reformed denominational lines to support GTI's mission.

    KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Provide leadership, practical support, and strategic initiative in assisting GTI to reach its campaign and annual support targets.

    • Implement strategies to engage and cultivate relationships with individual supporters, churches, and church bodies within the NAPARC community.

    • Organize and participate in meetings, both one-on-one and with local/regional church bodies, to present GTI's vision and secure support.

    • Work closely with the GTI Board and staff to identify fundraising opportunities and coordinate donor engagement efforts.

    DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS

    • A committed Christian with a solid grounding in the confessional Reformed tradition, preferably with development experience or experience in theological educational institutions.

    • A charitable and respectful disposition, avoiding contentiousness and controversy, especially in public forums like social media.

    • Maintains a respectful and charitable approach to differences among constituents, promoting unity and cooperation.

    • Able to utilize strong relationship skills to foster long-term support for Greystone, prioritizing genuine engagement over transactional interactions.

    • Keep sufficiently abreast of theological discussions and trends within the Reformed tradition to effectively communicate Greystone’s mission and vision.

    • Experience in fundraising, donor relations, or a related field, with demonstrated success in building and maintaining relationships.

    • Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to address both groups and individuals effectively.

    • Theologically informed to a degree befitting a mature Christian (seminary education is beneficial but not required).

    • Ability to work respectfully and fruitfully across denominational lines, especially but not exclusively within the NAPARC community.

    • High degree of personal integrity, wisdom, and discretion.

    LOCATION

This position is flexible in terms of location, with a combination of remote work and occasional required travel to meet with potential supporters and church bodies. Greystone Theological Institute is based in Coraopolis, Pennsylvania, close to Pittsburgh International Airport.

    HOW TO APPLY

Interested candidates should submit a cover letter expressing reasons for interest in the position, and a full resume. Applicants may then be requested to provide at least two references who can attest to the candidate's qualifications in relation to the responsibilities and qualifications listed above. The cover letter and resume should be sent to Ms. Jessica Doerfel, Greystone Theological Institute Senior Vice President of Administration at j.doerfel@greystoneinstitute.org.
