How does the gospel inform apologetics? What Christian virtues are essential for the apologetic task?  It has become far too common for those known as apologists to be men and women of little hope or humility, more eager to win an argument than to disciple a soul. It has also been the pattern of the Christian life to suffer, to be persecuted. The apologetic task requires hope in the gospel and humility as Christians defend the faith under persecution and while suffering at the hands of the world around us. Episode 8 of Quick to Listen is a brief selection from lecture 1.5 of Dr. William Dennison's full course module, Introduction to Apologetics in Theological Context. In this selection, Dr. Dennison considers both the comfort and the character essential to the apologetic endeavor.
