What is the overarching theme of the Book of Job? Is it the problem of evil in light of Job's suffering? Is it Job's obedience in light of his suffering? What if the Book of Job is primarily an answer to its central question, “Where shall wisdom be found?,” an answer focused on the God who has revealed himself in creation, providence, and the Scriptures? How might Job inform the Church, not only of the contents of the doctrine of natural theology, but also of how that doctrine can comfort those who suffer—especially those who suffer when no answer is given for their suffering? Episode 7 of Quick to Listen is a brief selection from lecture 5.8 of Dr. Don Collett's full course module, Job as Christian Scripture. In this selection, Dr. Collett considers the pastoral implications of the Book of Job, its doctrine of God, and its natural theology.
